Biography of Sherri E. Ritter
Sherri Ritter has an Ed.D. in Leadership Studies from Marshall University and more than 15 years of experience in higher education. Her specialty is educational technology with an emphasis in online course design and teaching. She has presented nationally and internationally on various educational technologies as well as written articles for professional journals to include NCPEA CONNEXIONS and The Reading Professor. Her latest publication “Methodological Orientation of Research Articles Appearing in Higher Education Journals” was completed in association with her Chair and committee for her dissertation and finalized in 2012.
During her educational career, Dr. Ritter has lead and participated in the campus wide implementation of three course management systems as well other educational technologies. She worked at Marshall University for a number of years before moving to Bridgemont and Kanawha Valley Community and Technical Colleges. She is currently in charge of the online program at Kanawha Valley. In addition to leading the online program, she is the campus coordinator for Quality Matters and serves on several state committees dealing with online education, some which include the WVVCTC Rubric/Standards Committee and the West Virginia Virtual Learning Network State Authorization Committee. She is a member of the Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education (AACE), The International Forum of Educational Technology & Society and several online forums concerning distance education.
Prior to her career in education, Dr. Ritter severed honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. She was a member of the 3rd Marine Division stationed in Iwakuni Japan where she worked as a computer programmer. She is currently a member of the Woman Marine Association and the Marine Corp League.
